Reeds is a whimsical site-specific installation developed for the 2009 edition of INIT LIVE, in collaboration with Tom Kuo.

The installation consists of a large outdoors projection of virtual light reeds onto a construction site fence at the INIT location. It uses two ultra-bright projectors to cover an area of the wall that is approximately 12 meters wide.

The reeds are generated in real time and move according to an algorithmic process. Over time, they oscillate between two states. In the first, they move gently as if blown by an invisible wind. In the second, the reeds fall down to the ground where they roll around for a while until they suddenly rise up again.
