bioteknica virtual laboratory

The Virtual Laboratory is a Flash application part of the Bioktenica project iniated by artists Jennifer Willet and Shawn Bailey. Bioteknica is a fictitious corporation, generating designer organisms on demand. Bioteknica both embraces and critiques biotechnology, considering the contradictions and complexities that these technologies offer the future of humanity.

The Laboratory was developed in collaboration with the Bioteknica artists and David 'Jhave' Johnston. It allows the user to generate organisms on demand in a virtual laboratory setting. The organisms are modeled after the Teratoma, a cancerous multi-tissue growth, and are created algorithmically.
