Data Portrait assignment

Portrait
1. a likeness of a person, especially of the face, as a painting, drawing, or photograph: a gallery of family portraits.
2. a verbal picture or description, usually of a person: a biography that provides a fascinating portrait of an 18th-century rogue.

Data
1. Facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis
2. The quantities, characters, or symbols on which operations are performed by a computer, being stored and transmitted in the form of electrical signals and recorded on magnetic, optical, or mechanical recording media
3. Things known or assumed as facts, making the basis of reasoning or calculation

For this assignment, you will create an unusual portrait of someone using data. You could also do a self-portrait. Think about how data about someone can also tell a story about who they are. Use this data to create your portrait. You can use any medium or technology you like. Post the results on your class webpage, along with a short explanation. (200-250 words)

This assignment is worth 10% of your final grade. You will be assessed mostly on the quality of your concept (appropriate use of data, is your piece a portrait, etc.), as supported by your execution/implementation and written explanation. The standard Ryerson grading scale will be used to assign your grade (eg: excellent: 8-10, good 7-8, satisfactory 6-7, marginal 5-6)
